ASHA requires 30 professional development hours (PDH) every three years. You will need to complete these professional development hours as part of your three year maintenance interval as a credential holder. If you are new clinician, you can read more about maintaining your ASHA credentials on the ASHA Website. Throughout the years, accessibility to quality continuing education has evolved into much more than attending an in person conference. There are many virtual venues and self paced learning opportunities that you can engage in to meet ASHA’s requirements for professional development hours. Although we strive to “meet” the PDH requirement number, having access to virtual conferences will push you to the level of being a highly qualified clinician. Having a mindset to be a lifelong learner is essential to developing and growing your competencies.
ASHA CEU TRACKER
I have created an ASHA CEU & 3 Year Maintenance Interval Tracker for speech pathologists that you can purchase from my Teacher Pay Teacher store. You can be confident you are meeting the requirements for maintaining your ASHA credentials. In addition, you can find a comprehensive list of free and paid virtual continuing education opportunities below. Many of these courses are ASHA CE providers and will submit to the ASHA CE registry on your behalf. If you are not familiar with the ASHA CE Registry, you can read more about it by visiting the ASHA Website. I opt into the ASHA CE registry as it is worth me not having to have one worry that my hours are not counting.
The certification maintenance tracker provides a space to track all the requirements for maintaining your credentials (Certificate of Clinical Competence). This tracker can be duplicated on the same spreadsheet every three years so you have a running log of all courses you have ever taken.
- Interval start and end date
- Interval status
- Total PDH earned and total PDH remaining which will auto calculate when you log the conference attended and total hours completed.
- Annual Dues Paid
- Compliance Form Submitted
- Supervision, DEI, and Ethics requirements logged.
- CEU tracker noting course name, date taken, CE registry reporting, hours earned, and content area.
You can grab my ASHA CEU & 3 Year Maintenance Interval Tracker in my Teacher Pay Teacher Store.
